RESURRECTION
What does resurrection really mean?
First and foremost lets get a biblical meaning for resurrection. It means a raising up or rising, to cause to stand. Take a look at these passages of scriptures.
Matthew 22:31-32
31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
Look at what Jesus said in verse 32. I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? This statement by Jesus was followed by a question mark as if he was asking his audience a question. Then Jesus followed with a profound statement, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. He did not say that he was the God of these great men who was no longer among the mortal men but that I am. This signified that they all had been resurrected from the dead because he is not the God of the dead but the God of the living.
Romans 6:5
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
So then tying these two verses together because we are in Christ and because we dead to sin we have been resurrected in the newness of life. Not only is death unable to hold us down, sickness is not able to keep us down, bad news can't keep us down, depression can keep us down, disappointment can't keep us down, rejection can't keep us down because the resurrection power of Jesus causes us to RISE UP!!!
Happy Resurrection Day !
