I Stand at the Door

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Rev 3:20

Growing up I was told that it was rude to not answer the door when someone is knocking. A person may knock on the door for many reasons; 1) they may have a message for you, 2) they may just want to check on you, and 3) they may simply be nosy.

Growing up communication was basically by word of mouth my mother use to say she "just want to look on her". In other words she wanted to look the person in the face and talk to him or her.

Our communication now is far from actual face to face yes we may have face time from electronic device to electronic device but nothing is like the real thing. Lets go back to some of the reasons why people knocked on doors. The first, they have a message for you, so they knock. Jesus spoke and John wrote in revelation 3:20, Behold, I stand at the door, and knock... Jesus is knocking because he has a message for you! Don't get so busy that you can't answer when He knocks open the door and talk with Him. The second, they want to check on you, so they knock. Everybody loves to be loved we all want somebody to acknowledge us from time to time. Jesus checks on us daily and throughout the night while we sleep and slumber. He was in our early prayer, "now you lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul you'll keep..." And finally, they may simply be nosy, so they knock. It was said that a nosy neighbor is a good neighbor. Recently we went to bed and left the garage door up well my neighbor called me 1:30 in the morning to warn me. It was early in the morning but boy was I glad that he called especially since a few things had gone missing in the neighborhood.

We should want Jesus nosing around to keep us out of harms way. His desire is to love you continuously just like He loved us enough to stay on the cross. Listen for his knock today and freely open up to him because He has a message for you!
