Why Aren't We Assembling?

The unknown author of the book of Hebrews wrote some awesome passages of scriptures from a known God. One of my favorite is Hebrew 10:25 " Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Growing up my siblings and I were encouraged and commanded to attend church. As I grew older and went off to college, I thought that I would play hooky for a few Sundays only to find out that my life felt like it was missing something. The feeling was correct I was missing something my soul was being starved from the very thing that was responsible for it to even be in my body. I needed to be refilled and restored with the WORD of GOD!

As a pastor in this very different society, I find myself making calls and visiting parishioners because I have not seen or heard from them in weeks, months and even years. I never once had a pastor to call or contact me because I was missing in action at the assembling we call church. Never once had the principal had to call home because I was missing for a week(maybe one class). Never once did any of my bosses call because I was missing in action for an extended period of time from work.

What I am trying to say is that once we realize the importance of anything we make it our business to be in attendance. The day of judgement is approaching!
