Every Word

We live a life of choices. We choose the kind of vehicle we want to drive, we choose the neighborhood we want to live in, we choose who we want to marry, etc. Choosing in these situations are okay and understandable. However, we cannot carry this practice into every walk of our lives.

Jesus said " And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matt 4:3-4). Where is this written in the bible that Jesus was referring to?

This was first recorded in Deuteronomy 8:2-4, " And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

Here is where it gets difficult for the unbeliever and some believers concerning the Word of God. Every word, does this means everything God said basically yes and I said basically yes because there are many verses written in the bible that pertained to a particular person or nation during that given time. We however cannot approach the Ten Commandments that way and decide which one we choose to obey.

The Word of God is the Word of God if it pertained to us two thousand years

ago it must still be obeyed today, tomorrow and forever more! God keep the children of Israel 40 years in the wilderness to humble them. Nevertheless he still keep them all feed when they got hungry. The Word supersedes everything!
