The Strong Bearing The Infirmities

Romans 15:1-2. We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

What was Paul trying to teach in this passage? First and foremost, a person with infirmities may have physical weaknesses or moral weaknesses. I believe that Paul was leaning more towards moral weaknesses. A person then with moral weaknesses may be incapable of conforming to the rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong. He or she may simply need a little time to gain the necessary knowledge to eliminate the infirmity.

So then, we who are strong in biblical understanding and ministries, should exhaust every available resource to strengthen those who are weak. Often times, we must bear the hostility posted against the living God by these same people.
